LOS ANGELES (AP) – Danny Green made eight three-pointers and scored 28 points against his former team, and the Philadelphia 76ers overcame a late Los Angeles comeback to earn their fourth consecutive victory, 109-101, on Thursday night against the saturated Lakers.

Seth Curry scored 19 points and Tobias Harris added 17 for the Sixers, who are 10 of 11 in the Eastern Conference in points and seven of eight without injured All-Star Joel Embiid.

Green hit six three-pointers in the first two quarters and added another shot with 30.4 seconds left to close out the game, making the kind of superior shot he has rarely made in his only season with the Lakers. The veteran started 68 regular season games and all 21 playoff games in Los Angeles, but averaged just 8.0 points as a three and 10 forward.

Green received a championship ring from the Lakers before the game, as did Dwight Howard, who was sent off after the first quarter.

The Lakers traded Green in the offseason for Dennis Schroeder, who scored 20 points and handed Los Angeles its fourth defeat of the season with 11 assists.

The Lakers, playing without superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, are in their second four-game series since mid-February.

Kyle Kuzma scored 25 points and Montrezl Harrell added 20, but the defending NBA champions were left without a victory as James sprained his ankle Sunday and joined fellow All-NBA selection Davis on the sidelines.

Philadelphia led by as many as 18 points in the second half, but the Lakers went on an 18-6 run to get within 102-98 with 2:20 to go.

Los Angeles got to three points in the final minute before Green sealed the win with a sideways three-pointer.

Howard’s expulsion prematurely ended his first game at Staples Center since winning his first NBA championship. The experienced center scored six points in the first quarter, but faced two technical fouls in connection with his spirited fight in the paint with Harrell, who ended up getting a shove that led to Howard’s ejection.

TIPS:

76ers: They acquired George Hill from Oklahoma City and Ignas Brazdekis from New York in a triangle deal, and waived Tony Bradley, Terrence Ferguson, Vincent Poirier, the rights to Emir Preldjic and a host of draft picks. Hill is averaging 11.8 points per game for the Thunder and is shooting 38.6% from 3-point range. …Curry returned after three games with an ankle injury.

Lakers: The team released a tribute video and observed a moment of silence before the game for Elgin Baylor, who passed away on Monday. …Davis’ calf injury will be re-evaluated this weekend. It’s been that way since the 14th. February has missed 17 consecutive games.

FANS ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD

The Lakers welcomed several dozen fans into the Staples Center stands for the first time this season, after receiving permission from the Los Angeles County Health Department to allow no more than 50 people in. Fans mostly watched in silence.

NEXT HOUR

76ers: To the Clippers, Saturday.

Lakers: Lead the Cavaliers on Friday.
