Disney has announced a new wave of delayed start dates for its 2021 film series – including Marvel’s Black Widow, Kingsman: The Secret Service prequel Man of the King and the Ryan Reynolds video game based on the action comedy Free Guy. These actions are part of Disney’s effort to determine when and how the US and other major film markets will recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. With government officials and health experts predicting a return to normalcy by early to mid-July, Disney is in a good position to have large crowds returning to the theaters on a regular basis.

Here are the new Disney movie release dates for 2021:

  • Black Widow – 9. July (theaters and Disney+ Premium)
  • Cruella – 28. May (theaters and Disney+ Premium)
  • Luca from Pixar – 18. June (Disney+)
  • Free Guy – 13. August (cinemas)
  • Shan Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – September (cinemas)
  • The King’s Man – 22. December (theatres)
  • Deepwater – 14. January 2022. (Cinemas)
  • Death on the Nile – 11. February 2022 (theatres)

Burbank, Calif. (March 23, 2021) – Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution today announced release details for a series of upcoming films at Walt Disney Studios. The announcement includes updated launch details for Disney’s Cruella, Marvel Studios’ Black Widow and Disney and Pixar’s Luca, and updated premiere dates for several other titles.

With a flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic market that is beginning to recover from a global pandemic, we will continue to leverage the best options to bring Walt Disney’s unparalleled story to fans and families around the world, said Kareem Daniel, president, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution.

Following the successful release of Paradise and the Last Dragon, Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated live-action film, Cruella, and the highly anticipated Black Widow, will be released on Friday, May 28, on Friday, May 9, respectively. July, simultaneous release in theaters in most Disney+ markets and on Disney+ with Premier Access.

Like the Oscar-nominated Soul, which Disney+ subscribers will enjoy during the holidays, Disney and Pixar’s Luca will launch on Friday the 18th. June, airing live to homes worldwide exclusively on Disney+ as a special offer to kick off the summer season. In international markets where Disney+ is not yet available, the film will be released in theaters, with preview dates to be announced.

Theatrical release dates have also changed for a few other upcoming films. The new release dates are :

  • Free Guy 13. August 2021
  • Shan Chi and the legend of the ten rings at 3. September 2021.
  • Royal Man 22. December 2021.
  • Deep water 14. January 2022.
  • Death on the Nile, 11. February 2022.
