The New York Knicks have banned a fan from Madison Square Garden for spitting on Trae Young , the Atlanta Hawks’ rookie point guard. According to Young, the fan was ejected from the arena after Young made an offensive gesture at him. “I was actually disgusted and I thought he spit at me, but then I was like, ‘No, he didn’t spit at me.’ I was kind of surprised,” Young said. “But, I understand. I get it.”
The New York Knicks have banned a fan from their arena for spitting on Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young’s face. The Knicks and Hawks were engaged in a heated back-and-forth during Game 2 of their playoff series. Young was attempting a three-pointer. The ball went up, but the throw was off-target. That’s when a woman in an orange shirt, who was courtside, reached over the railing and spat on Young’s face. Young quickly brushed off the incident and continued playing; he is still down 1-0 in the series.

The New York Knicks have announced that they have banned a fan who spit at Atlanta Hawks quarterback Tra Young Wednesday night in Game 2 of the first round of the playoffs.
The Knicks released a statement Thursday afternoon.
We investigated and discovered that this visitor, who is not a season ticket holder, was spitting on Tre Young, and for that reason he has now been banned from the Garden indefinitely. We apologize to Trey and the entire Atlanta Hawks organization for this fan’s behavior. This was totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our institution. We have passed on the information to the appropriate authorities, the team said.
However, Young refused to press charges against the fan who spat at him.
We appreciate Garden’s response to the incident, and Trey remains focused on his teammates and Game 3, said Omar Wilkes, Young’s agent.

This is the second fan-related incident on Wednesday. A Philadelphia fan threw popcorn at quarterback Russell Westbrook of the Washington Wizards as he walked through the tunnel. On Thursday, Philadelphia announced the punishment for the incident: The fan was also banned indefinitely from the Wells Fargo Center.
The incident that struck Young occurred at 8:34 of the fourth quarter when he took the ball to the sideline near the fans. The video was widely shared on social media.
Young has become the center of attention for Knicks fans, some of whom scanned F– Trae Young in the first two games.
Early Thursday morning, Young’s father, Ray Young, tweeted: We need to get this under control. Popcorn is thrown at @russwest44 and spat at @TheTraeYoung. I can do all the songs for my son, that goes without saying. However, this needs to be addressed. Tra Young also retweeted the video and wrote Damn….. It’s crazy!

On Thursday, the NBA issued a statement on the league’s code of conduct for the playoffs: The return of more NBA fans to our arenas has created a lot of excitement and energy at the start of the playoffs, but it is imperative that we all show respect to the players, officials and our fellow fans. A comprehensive fan code of conduct is strictly enforced to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
On Sunday, Young said he understood the story of players coming to Madison Square Garden and Knicks fans putting them in a bad light.
Like I said, I take it as a compliment, to be honest, Young said after the Hawks’ Game 1 win. I guess I’m doing something right if you hate me so much. I accept it and try to focus on my team and help them win. At least we’ll have the last word.
The Knicks and Hawks meet in Game 3 on Friday in Atlanta.
