Stephen Curry’s recent shot left everyone around him in awe.

Teammates, coaches, opponents – it’s hard for anyone to comprehend exactly what they’re watching as the star of the Golden State Warriors continues to set new records each night.

Curry scored 49 points – 20 of them in the fourth quarter – in Monday night’s 107-96 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, becoming the first player in NBA history to score 30 or more points in 11 consecutive games when he was 33 or older – surpassing Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who scored at least 30 points in 10 consecutive games in December 2002.

I saw Kobe Bryant early in his career, he had a phase where he went crazy, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. Sure, Michael Jordan had periods where he scored like crazy, but no one in the history of the game has ever shot the ball like that. Even by Steph’s own high standards, this is more than enough.

A week after passing Wilt Chamberlain as the Warriors’ top scorer, Curry continues to collect records like he never has before in his 12-year career. Curry averaged 39.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 10 games in April. He knows he’s making history, but he doesn’t let the pressure get in the way of enjoying the game.

With the Wilt video last week and then that tape, of course I know about it, Curry said. But you can’t put too much pressure on yourself, you just have to play basketball. … Be aggressive, of course, but also let the game come to you. It feels that way, but I’m just playing basketball and it apparently works.

What Curry has been doing well lately is his accuracy beyond the arc. The 33-year-old made 10 of 17 distance shots Monday night, giving him now 54 three-pointers in his last six games.

Twenty-one games with 10 or more three-pointers, said Kerr, who almost didn’t believe what was coming out of his mouth. And Clay [Thompson] is second with five. And Steph has had four in the last five [games]. Unbelievable. It’s breathtaking.

Curry’s recent play has helped the Warriors to their best series of the season, winning five of their last six games. Golden State is currently ninth in the Western Conference and nine of its last 14 games have been played against teams under .500.

While Curry continues to shoot from all angles, some of his teammates admit that sometimes they can’t help but look at him.

What he can do on the field is something special. He’s one of a kind, Andrew Wiggins said of the Warriors. When I was on the other team, you could see him from a distance, you could see what he was doing. You see all the creative things he does, but being part of his team is a lot different than seeing him in person, every day, every game. His presence on and off the ball is insane.

Warriors veteran center Kevon Looney said he thinks Curry is playing the best basketball of his career – even better than he did in the 2015-16 season, when Curry was unanimously voted league MVP.

My first year, I didn’t think anyone could play better than him, Looney said. I thought it would be the pinnacle of basket shooting, showmanship and everything else, but I think he can top that this year and take things to a whole new level. I still remember that year and how he progressed, broke records and did new things that no one had ever seen before, it was amazing.

Even though Kerry tries to downplay some of his accomplishments, he knows he has a special side. He also realizes that he is getting a lot of praise, but he is not discouraged by it.

It’s flattering, but I don’t wake up yearning, Curry said. But I appreciate the respect and appreciation for what I can accomplish on the field, no matter how much people want to talk about it. But that doesn’t change my approach to the game and my confidence in myself, my team and what I am capable of.

It’s easy to blog; you all know I really do read and listen to everything, so it’s entertaining to a point because things can tilt, but in the end we go out and play nice. As long as you are in some form of conversation, do what you need to do.

Curry isn’t just the talk of the day – his accomplishments have put him at the center of most discussions in sports.

I don’t know what else to say, Kerr said. You ask me after every game what I think of Steph and his performance, what I said last game, use it tonight. Because it’s the same after every game, it’s just a total amazement at this man’s ability, his heart, his mind, his focus, it’s just incredible to watch.
