FRISCO, Texas — If there is any doubt about the future of Mike McCarthy and Duck Prescott with the Dallas Cowboys, Executive Vice President Stephen Jones made it clear on Monday that both men will return with the Cowboys in 2021.

Jones asked if McCarthy was safe, no matter how the 2020 season ended: The Cowboys have a 2-7 record and said in the middle of the four-game loss line that this was absolutely right. It’s unreadable.

As for Mr Prescott, Mr Jones reiterated that he is part of the team’s long-term plans, although he is recovering from a complex fracture and dislocation of his judge’s ankle that required end-of-year surgery. Currently, the Cowboys are holding the top five in the draft for next spring, but Jones said the quarterback will not be discussed.

Duck is our quarterback and we’re very happy that he and he are leading us into the future, Jones said.

Prescott received a $31.4 million guarantee for the franchise label in 2020, and the two parties were unable to reach a long-term agreement in July last year. If the Cowboys were to use a franchise in Prescott in 2021, it would cost $37.7 million. The Cowboys offered Prescott a five-year contract approaching $35 million a year, with a $50 million warranty bonus and a $111 million warranty, but the quarterback decided to play the season day-by-day.

For Project 2021, the five are considering a four-year contract with a guarantee of approximately $40 million plus a five-year option.

Jones was positive about Prescott’s recovery after surgery.

It’s a four-month injury that rules out failure, and so far we only get it from (assistant track and field bus Britt Brown) and the doctors say he’s ahead of schedule, Jones said. So yes, he managed to avoid any failure, and even if he was ahead of the game, he shouldn’t be surprised if he leaves after a test. He’s Duck far ahead, and he’s done a good job.

The absence of Prescott had a major impact on the first year of McCarthy and other significant injuries of Tyrone Smith and La’el Collins and the near end of Blake Jarvin.

In January, McCarthy signed a five-year contract with the Cowboys to replace Jason Garrett. The idea was that the coach who had won the Super Bowl had to take care of what the organization thought was a willing opponent, but that they did not, partly because of injuries, the consequences of the coronapandemic and the bad game.

They’re changing the culture. You’re changing direction, Mr. Jones. And of course we like stability. That’s why we stayed with Jason for 10 years, and we know that this kind of thing doesn’t happen if you change everything. They cast a shadow over the fact that we had an unprecedented environment with the virus and that Mike and his staff could only communicate virtually with the team. There are problems, but there are many other new employees who have had the same problems. You throw it in, and then you throw out the wounds we had to work with, and that was a big problem. We will continue to work and improve every day as a football team.

Despite all this, the Cowboys still have a chance to qualify for the play-offs, mainly due to the terrible situation at NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles lead a division with a record of 3-4-1. Although the Cowboys on Sunday the 24th and 19th. In February, lost to the Pittsburgh Steels, they gained confidence in the only unbeatable team in the championship, which is on the verge of defeat, starting with the fourth distinct quarterback of the season: Garrett Gilbert.

Jones said that once Andy Dalton had passed the concussion test and the COVID 19 protocol, he would be a starting cowboy again, despite Gilbert’s strong performance in his early career.

Jones used the story of McCarthy Packers to illustrate his point. In 2006, the Packers started with a score of 4-8, won four finals and broke the NFC record – 13-3 the next season.

Jones said we were close. You need to take a deep breath. Of course, you have to have faith in the decisions you’ve made. I think we go to work every week. I know that’s how Mike started his first year in Green Bay. They achieved a good result there, and of course our goal here is to achieve a good result and be competitive in the East, and we will continue from there.
