The 43rd annual Kennedy Center Awards, presented this year, will take place on Sunday the 6th. June from 9pm to 11pm, ET/PT only on CBS and streaming on CBS All Access.
Debbie Allen, Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Midori and Dick Van Dyke present the 43rd edition of the show. The Kennedy Center’s honorary class when CBS presents the 43rd Special Airs.

Kennedy Center honorees serve to honor outstanding artists who have spent their lives elevating the cultural history of our nation and the world, said Kennedy Center President David M. Rubenstein. Moving between artistic disciplines with ease, Debbie Allen is a cultural ambassador for all and has made a monumental impact on dancers of all colors. Folk icon Joan Baez breathed new life into the genre and reinvigorated the shift from rock music to social and political awareness. Garth Brooks brought country music to the forefront as a successful artist like no other singer before him. The violinist Midori, who has been performing around the world for over 35 years, combines graceful precision and expressiveness in his performances, making the link between art and human experience. With a charm that has made him one of the most revered performers in the history of show business, Dick Van Dyke has been bringing us film, theatre and television characters adored by generations of fans for more than seven decades.

This unique period in history is reflected throughout the Center’s campus, with small personal events and virtual tributes, including the Front Plaza building, the Grand Foyer in front of the bust of John F. Kennedy and the iconic Opera House stage. The program of each event includes both speeches and keynotes honoring the winners. In the week beginning on the 17th. Virtual events will also take place on May 1, and the feasibility of other face-to-face events will be explored as COWID-19 security protocols are developed in the coming months. The Medal of Honour ceremony and a limited number of spectators will take place the week of 17-22. May at the Kennedy Center.

The past year has taught us many things, including the need to be flexible and adaptable, said Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter. They say necessity is the mother of all inventions. Unusual circumstances have inspired us and opened up new ways to experience and hopefully better understand the art and work of our laureates. The year 2020 has also highlighted how art and culture speak to our collective human experience. He can meet us at any time and support us in our most difficult days. Everyone from the 43rd.
