In the last minutes of this week, the long awaited AEW world champion Kenny Omega took part in drum competitions. He and Don Callis stayed on the tour bus for the whole show before finally interviewing Josh Matthews. Callis began by explaining that the wheels of this plan were set in motion 27 years ago when Omega’s uncle, the Golden Sheikh, first trained him in wrestling.
During all my years as Kenny, I’ve taken care of Kenny the same way as the sheikh, Callis said. Kenny’s always had something special, and I’ve always been there for him, I’ve always been an invisible hand in his life, like I’ve been wrestling professionally the last few years. Did you really think I came back to this case five years ago to make a podcast? You really thought I was coming back from a successful career in international trade, be a color commentator for New Japan Pro Wrestling. It was all part of the plan. It was all part of my plan to be with Kenny when he won the IWGP heavyweight title. It was all part of my plan, like coming to a drum wrestling match. It was all part of the plan when Tony Khan kindly invited me to his house to call Kenny’s game where he won the tournament against Adam Page.
It was all part of the plan when I was such a good guy that Tony Khan kindly invited me to name the game for the World Championship against John Moxley, he added.
As a historical gift to IMPACT fans @KennyOmegamanX and @TheDonCallis gave us @JonMoxley a badge that was removed from @AEW World Cup and replaced by the @Kenny Omega badge. #IMPACTonAXSTV pic.twitter.com/MRFIF8vQCo

He then asked if he was involved in booking the Omega against Chris Jericho for the match against Kingdom 12, a match he claimed was the birth of AEW.
Matthews then asked Omega if he felt his victory over Moxley clouded his legacy, upsetting both men. Omega justified his actions by saying that Moxley, by taking the face of his father in his hands, trapped him. Then he answered why they competed in the Impact Championship and teased that he wanted to win the Impact World Championship.
But why the drum wrestling? Hey, Don, I’m gonna teach you something about yourself, Omega. When I was a kid, I thought I was kind of an amateur. I was a collector. Well, I had to quit. Do you know why? Because no matter how much money I spend, no matter how rare comics I collect, I could never get the rarest and most valuable prizes in the comic world. Now I’ve found a new hobby and I’ve found the most valuable prize of all. The plot of comic book number one. And by the way, I don’t mind adding X-Men number one to my collection, the name AAA. I don’t mind adding Spider-Man #1 to my collection. Who knows, maybe it’s a championship of spades? You have a great champion, don’t you?

Omega closed the segment by promising great publicity on AEW Dynamite and then drawing and saying good night.
Reigning world champion drummer Rich Swan was shown directly in front of the segment because security guards prevented him from entering the same parking lot as Omega.
The champion blocked the parking lot… …but not the world champion IMPACT. #IMPACTonAXSTV @GottaGetSwann @realjoshmathews pic.twitter.com/6AX8usq8ih
