Carlos Valdes is a man of many words, and he’s not afraid to say them. Last week, he shared his thoughts on his departure from The Flash. The actor spoke to ComicBook.com about his experience while appearing on the CW series.

“I didn’t expect to leave the Flash, and I hadn’t planned to. When I left, it was only a matter of time before I would go back to work. ”

Earlier this year, fans of The Flash on The CW received sad news when it was announced that Carlos Valdes, who played Cisco Ramon since the character’s debut in Arrow, would be leaving the show in season seven. That departure takes place in next week’s episode Farewell Vibrations, in which Cisco and his girlfriend Camila (Victoria Park) let the Flash team know they’re leaving Central City. Cisco and the Flash team come together to confront the threat to the city. For the next episode, we had the chance to talk to Valdes about his departure from the series, which he describes as synergistic, not only with Cisco’s career on the series, but also with himself as a person. This is a difficult question. I felt there was a perfect synergy between the Cisco career and my personal career, says Valdes. Eric Wallace has woven these new energies into the show, and they’re amazing energies, frankly, because they not only bring the energy of the story to life, but they also bring the dynamics of our cast to life in a really interesting way. But I think there was always a core in Cisco that wasn’t so sure of the responsibility of being on that team, and it was that core that was suggested when he decided to take his medicine and leave his powers behind, which caused a lot of controversy. He continued: But I think his decision to step back and build his own project and have more of his own project with Camila, I think the new energy in the story, the new people on the team made that decision easier. And you know, Cisco is very proud of its work, very proud of its technology. He’s very proud of his costumes. And I think when Chester came forward, he saw someone who was so uniquely equipped to take on that responsibility and those specialties, which I think allowed him to make that decision. Also when I saw new blood coming into our show, I don’t know a better term, it helped me make a decision. At some point, it dawned on me: Oh, I’m not afraid to move on anymore because the show is so strong that the new team will pick it up and make it better than before. Valdes’ departure was announced in May. It was then announced that Valdes and Tom Cavanagh, both original cast members of The Flash, would be leaving the series in its seventh season. Kavanagh was last seen in an episode of Timeless, and Valdes says goodbye in Good-bye Vibrations, which airs on the 8th. However, showrunner Eric Wallace said at the time that the door remained open for both actors to return for guest appearances. Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons and will be sorely missed, Wallace said in a statement. Both are incredible talents who have created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. That’s why we like to keep the door open for rehearsals. The Flash airs on Tuesdays at 8:07 p.m. on The CW. Good-Bye Vibrations will be released on the 8th. June has been released.
