Los Angeles was limited to four hits thanks to home runs by Max Muncy and Justin Turner. Until AJ Pollock opened up the ninth inning with a single, San Francisco pitchers had retired 11 consecutive Dodgers.

With the victory, the Giants extended their lead over the reigning World Series champion Dodgers to two games. Since May 31, San Francisco has remained in top position.

Jarln Garca (2-2), the third of six pitchers for San Francisco, earned the victory with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.

Posey didn’t spend any time in establishing himself. With one out in the first, he took advantage of Tony Gonsolin’s (1-1) hanging slider on a full count and blasted it into the left-field bleachers for his 13th home run of the season. Posey drove in LaMonte Wade Jr. with a double into the right-field corner to start the game.

Flores hit a two-run shot to right field two pitches after Posey’s homer, extending San Francisco’s lead to 3-0. The Giants blasted back-to-back home runs for the sixth time this season, in addition to Flores’ 10th.

In the first inning, Muncy and Turner both hit single home runs for the Dodgers. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Muncy smashed Kevin Gausman’s fastball down the right-field line for his seventh home run against the Giants this season. Muncy is the sixth Dodgers player to hit at least eight home runs against the Giants in a single season, and the first since Ron Cey in 1978.

With a drive into the center-field bleachers, Turner made it 3-2 for the Dodgers. The Dodgers went back-to-back for the second time this month and the seventh time this season.

In the eighth inning, San Francisco was given some breathing space. With the bases loaded, Jason Vosler brought home Posey with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2. Estrada followed with a two-run double to left and came home on a double down the right-field line by Austin Slater.
