The New Orleans Pelicans are currently one of the most promising and exciting teams in the league. That and the fact that they have Zion Williamson makes that the NBA pays more attention and plays more prime time games than some people think they deserve now.
Whether it’s up to us or not. You could say they’ve brought together a young core of fascinating actors, which could be great. In fact, they could produce the next dynasty in the League, because they haven’t reached their primates yet.
But let’s not do anything rash now. First and foremost the pelicans have to regain the confidence of the competition by putting on a show every night. That’s why we’re informing you today about what your starting grid will look like next season.
The bank: Kiera Lewis Jr, J.J. Radick, Nikil Alexander-Voker, Theo Pinson, Cindarius Thornwell, Josh Hart, Venien Gabriel, Nicolo Mellie, Jackson Hayes, Willie Hernangomez, Ike Anigbogu, Will Magnay.
Protectors: Lonzo ball
(via CBS Sport)
Patience with Lonzo Ball is running out, but to be honest he looked pretty solid with the pelicans last year. He will probably never be an effective and reliable attacker, but his three-point throw has improved considerably and he is already an elite defender.
The ball has clearly built a strong relationship with Zion Williamson on the pitch and you know he is also one of the smartest players in the league. Let’s hope he can stay healthy, or the newcomer Kira Lewis Jr. can dig up his playtime.
Gunner: Eric Bledzo
(about the Bleacher Report)
Pelicans from New Orleans have dropped Eric Bladsoe off at Jrue Holiday, but we don’t know if they’re going to hold him or try to buy him back in time. That’s because they’re fairly stacked in the shooter’s position and the proximity of the Lonzo bullet may not be the best option.
You know what to expect from a seasoned joker like Bledso. He is physical and aggressive, perhaps too much for his own good. The pelicans are also waiting for Josh Hard, J.J. Redick and Nikil Alexander-Walker to come off the bench.
Middle front: Brandon Ingram
Brandon Ingram blossomed before our eyes and eventually became the dominant goalkeeper we thought was at the beginning of the competition. He’s from the All-Star season and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be able to keep up with the pace this season.
Ingram improved a lot as a three-point shooter and made great progress as a defender. He knows how to use his height and physical characteristics to get a head start on his opponent and above all seems to finally have confidence in his game.
Propulsive power: Zion Williamson
(via SBNation.com)
Zion Williamson is the most prominent player in the league since Lebron James and for very good reasons. It is clear that he has talent for once in his life and that he will be able to talk to MVP in a couple of years, as long as he stays healthy.
It wasn’t long before Zion could prove he had what it takes to dominate a professional, just as he did in high school and college. Again, his health will always be a concern and he could barely play during the impressive rookie season.
Centre: Stephen Adams
With the addition of Stephen Adams, the New Orleans Pelican has just received the strongest and most physical short front in the league. I mean, just try to get past Zion Williamson’s screen and hit Stephen Adams under the edge, it’s not gonna happen.
Joke aside, Adams is a giant pelican truck. In today’s speed and space competition it may be disturbing, but he is one of the best scooter men in the NBA. Moreover, he is a reliable defender and the man in the team who will accept his role immediately.
