The Veterans of Foreign Wars of Atascadero are hosting events September 3-4, 2018.
The events happening this weekend is a list of events for the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Atascadero.
The Post is hosting a number of patriotic activities.
ATASCADERO — ATASCADERO — ATASCADERO — The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 2814 of Atascadero is encouraging the community to participate in a number of patriotic activities planned for September at the Post.
September 11th is Patriot Day.
Join us for a unique candlelight service to commemorate the countless lives lost on September 11, 2001, 20 years ago. The Post will provide free hamburgers and hot dogs, and members and visitors are invited to bring side dishes or desserts for a potluck meal.
September 17 is POW/MIA Recognition Day.
Join us in remembering the commitments and sacrifices made by our country’s prisoners of war and those currently missing in action. At 6 p.m., the Missing Man Honors Ceremony will take place, followed by a community potluck supper. Members and visitors are invited to bring a dish to share for the meal.

On September 25, there will be a community shred event.
From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the community may safely and securely dispose of outdated documents at the VFW Auxiliary 2814’s first-ever Shred Event. Shred 2 U, a professional shredding business, will handle the rapid disposal of the paper at the Post through a drive-through service (enter at Santa Rosa Road). It is recommended that a $5 contribution per banker’s box of papers be made. VFW 2814 receives 100% of the profits.
On September 25, there will be a breakfast at the VFW.
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., inside The Canteen, enjoy a delicious, handmade breakfast served by Post Officers for just $8. Along with the full bar, drink specials such as $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys will be available.
Every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., there will be a Burgers & Brats Lunch.
Lunch starts at $5 for a freshly grilled hamburger or homemade bratwurst. Condiments, a bag of chips, and a cup of chili are included with each meal.
Every Monday at 6 p.m., there is an open pool league.
Get your pool stick ready for a nice game of pool.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the Canteen at VFW 2814 opens at 4 p.m., and on Wednesdays, it is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Closed Thursdays and Saturdays, with the exception of special events.)
