The Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Milwaukee Bucks are looking to get back into the win column tonight when they host the Brooklyn Nets at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The Bucks are coming off a very emotional Game 1 loss in which they were outscored 26-14 in the second half. The Bucks shot just 38% from the floor in that game, and Brooklyn made their one big run at the end of the game, forcing the Bucks into a late-game shot-clock crunch.

The Milwaukee Bucks spent most of the season talking about their win-loss record and their hot start, but they have another record to consider now. The Bucks are now 2-0 in the playoffs, and they’ll need to win two more games to claim the franchise’s first playoff win since 2008. The Bucks are not a great team, but they have done what they should in the first two games, and they’ll need to make some adjustments if they want to extend the series.

There are several adjustments the Bucks must make in Game 2 vs. Brooklyn on Sunday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Here is a look at three of them.. You wouldn’t say it from the final score, but the Nets seemed to be in control the entire game. That doesn’t bode well for the Bucs, especially since Brooklyn was basically playing without star guard James Harden, who left the game after 43 seconds with a hamstring strain. Harden’s status for the rest of the series is still questionable, but if Beard returns, it could be the end for Milwaukee. After all, this is a seven game series. The Bucs can still make adjustments to turn things in their favor, but they have to start trading in Game 2.

3. Taking better perimeter photographs

In the first game, the Bucks made just 6 of 30 three-pointers. A 20 percent success rate on long-range shots is certainly not ideal, especially when you’re dealing with an offensive heavyweight like Brooklyn. Chris Middleton hit all five of his three-point attempts, while Jrue Holiday made just two of his seven distance shots. Bryn Forbes, Milwaukee’s three-point specialist who had a nice run against the Heat, shot just 2 of 8 times and 1 of 5 three-pointers tonight. As the saying goes, it’s a do-or-die competition. The Bucks will make those shots eventually, but they need to make them in Game 2, because they can’t afford to lose 2-0 to a star-studded Nets team. But Milwaukee, which ranked fifth in three-point shooting percentage (38.9 percent) in the regular season, can’t count on the law of averages to save it. To be fair, Brooklyn’s defense handled the rotation well and executed their offense well. So the Bucs need to do a better job of getting the ball to the suburbs. They need to be clearer and faster with their passing decisions to create better shots for their players. Milwaukee took advantage of its size and scored 72 points. That’s exactly what the Bucks will have to do in Game 2 if they want to steal a game on the road before returning to Milwaukee. Antitokounmpo dominated as a team, making all but three of his 16 shots at the basket. Brooke Lopez also proved to be a problem in the final moments, making easy throws out of the lead. If the Bucks shoot better from deep, that will open up the paint even more for Milwaukee.

2. Best defensive rotation

On one hand, Milwaukee should be better on the other side of the ball, especially in terms of defensive rotation. Brooklyn moved the ball well to find the open man, and often created clear opportunities for their shooters on the perimeter. In all, the Nets made 40 three-pointers and shot 15, or 37.5 percent. The Bucks need to improve in this area to prevent the Nets from making easy three-pointers. They need to be more resistant and better at slowing down Brooklyn shooters like Joe Harris, who hit five three-pointers Saturday. It would have been much better to let the boys put the ball down and make a decision in the game, rather than waiting comfortably for a free kick on three.

3. Play more with your stars

Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer has often been criticized for not letting his stars play in the postseason when it matters most. The trend was almost the same in the first game. According to Dave Dufour of The Athletic, those are the minutes Nets stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have spent in three quarters compared to Antetokounmpo, Middleton, Holliday and Lopez. Minutes to play before the start of the 4th period. Game KD 33 Kyrie 34 Middleton 28 Giannis 27 Jrue 31 Brooke 22 Let’s see if Bud’s gamble paid off. – Dave Dufour (@DaveDuFourNBA) June 6, 2021 Rookie coach Steve Nash spent most of the game with his two stars, while Budenholzer opted to use the bench for a 7-8 minute stretch. Every possession counts in the post season, and in an evenly matched game, even two minutes can be crucial. It’s the playoffs. They have already passed the biggest test on the road in the championship. Budenholzer has no reason to keep his stars in reserve for so long. He must understand that now, more than ever, he must use the heavy artillery. Plus, Budenholzer really needs to strengthen his rotation. He did the same in the final series against the Heat, but he seemed to get through in Game 1. Notably, Jeff Teague will no longer be able to be on the field for 14 minutes. If Bud doesn’t make adjustments, Antitokounmpo and the rest of the guys should make their mark and demand to play more. The Bucks were bounced out of the Eastern Conference semifinals by the Boston Celtics on Sunday, and head coach Larry Drew has to make some major adjustments to get his team ready for the next round. It looks like the main change will be a revamped offense. After the Bucks were swept by the Celtics in the first round, Drew decided to take a different approach. Rather than rely on heavy doses of pick-and-rolls and isolations, Drew has tried to get the Bucks to play more like the Golden State Warriors. That means they will run a lot of pick and roll, get better shots off the dribble, and get into the lane more.. Read more about bucks vs nets game 3 tickets and let us know what you think.
