There’s a lot of talk about Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder fighting each other next summer, and while it may happen, others have disagreed. The number one contender to Joshua and Wilder’s IBF, WBA, WBO, and IBO titles, Tyson Fury, has even said he would prefer to fight Wilder rather than Joshua. But, even if that happens, would you rather see Wilder take on Fury, or Joshua face Wilder?

The heavyweight division has been infested with the likes of Joe Louis, Lennox Lewis, and Wladimir Klitschko in recent years, but that may be changing with the emergence of a new group of fighters. Here are some of the main stars in the running for the winner of heavyweight championship belts:

Will Tyson Fury ever fight Anthony Joshua?

In this edition of Fight Talk, we look at what the postponement of the fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder means for a potentially undisputed British fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Dillian White offers to fight Wilder, Jake Paul mocks UFC star Conor McGregor, Oscar de la Hoya looks at two superstars before boxing returns, and Saul Canelo Alvarez impresses with his golf skills.

Does Fury Joshua ever come?

Another blow to the heavyweight division: Boxing fans were disappointed when the trilogy fight between WBC champion Fury and challenger Wilder was postponed last week after the Briton was diagnosed with the coronavirus.

The fight was supposed to take place on July 24 in Las Vegas, but may now be postponed until September.

In May, everything seemed so rosy.

Fans, media, boxers and just about everyone involved in boxing are preparing for the biggest all-British fight in history.

There were only a few days left before the undisputed summer fight between Joshua and Fury became 100% official, with Saudi Arabia chosen as the venue.

And then former champion Wilder set the record straight after an arbitration panel ruled that Fury must next fight the American for a third time.

As the initial disappointment wears off, fans are beginning to look forward to the possibility of a Fury-Joshua fight later this year, and the possibility of it taking place in the UK is having a positive effect.

But Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who represents Joshua, said it was now unlikely the fight would take place in 2021.

Since Fury on the 25th. September fights, it’s very difficult to have a fight in December, he told IFL TV.

And right now, there’s a lot of talk about a non-controversial fight in late January or February.

But with Joshua likely to take on Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, fans aren’t sure if we’ll ever see the big showdown we’ve all been looking forward to…..

Whether it’s illness, injury or the politics of boxing, the fight between Joshua and Fury seems further away than ever.

Dillian White has requested to intervene

One of those looking to take advantage of the current heavyweight situation is Briton Dillian White.

The Londoner, who knocked out Alexander Povetkin in March after losing to the Russian last year, holds the interim WBC belt but believes he should be promoted to champion in his own right.

White wants the WBC to declare Fury – who hasn’t fought since his win over Wilder 15 months ago – the interim champion.

I’m gonna fight Wilder like a champ. The winner of this fight will fight Fury. And the winner of that fight will face AJ for the undisputed title, White told Sky Sports.

There is no love lost between Whitt and Wilder, who have clashed on social media over the years.

Two explosive fighters in the ring and equally entertaining outside the ring, this is a fight that will generate a lot of interest…..

A fight between White andilder probably won’t happen this year, but it could salvage something from what has been a disappointing year for fans of heavyweight boxing.

Jake Paul trolls McGregor with $100,000 chain

Whether you’re a fan of his or not, boxer YouTuber Jake Paul definitely knows how to get the audience’s attention.

The 24-year-old boxer has three wins to his name against social media star Enison Gibe, former NBA basketball player Nate Robinson and mixed martial arts fighter Ben Askren.

But it’s his boldness and his speech, not his boxing resume, that seems to be generating the most enthusiasm.

And this week, Irish UFC star Conor McGregor was criticized for trolling Paul.

Paul has made it clear that he would like a boxing match with McGregor. A fight that boxing purists might not approve of, but would undoubtedly earn them both a few million dollars.

The American bought a diamond necklace worth $100,000 to commemorate McGregor’s loss against Dustin Poirier in a UFC fight in January.

The chain shows McGregor unconscious and with a bottle of sleeping pills. Paul showed off his new gem after McGregor’s new loss to Poirier on Saturday night…..

And either out of generosity or (more likely) to whet McGregor’s appetite, Paul Poirier is now offering a necklace…..

De La Hoya wants Canelo or Mayweather

Former six-weight champion Oscar de la Hoya, 48, is not giving up his plans to return to the sport.

The American has two opponents in mind: the former and the current feeder.

In a podcast presented by former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, De la Hoya said: I want to do two of these practice games and then guess what? I want a real fight, a twelve round fight, with Floyd [Mayweather] or Canelo [Alvarez].

De la Hoya lost to American Mayweather by split decision in 2007, and retired from the sport in 2008.

His promotional company Golden Boy then represented Mexican Pound-for-Pound star Alvarez before the two abruptly split last year.

From blow to blow

We leave the choice to you: Alvarez is arguably the most popular man in world boxing, and this week he showed that he can do just about anything, even golf!

The Mexican made a long putt on the 18th hole of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. In the second minute, he made the decisive eagle shot and celebrated exuberantly.

Quick hands in the ring, steady hands on the range.
