Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant were named Thursday night as captains of the NBA All-Stars for next month.
James and Durant will lead their teams on the 4th. Mars to choose from the 22 remaining stars after receiving the most votes from all players in both conferences. The All-Star Game, which the NBA officially announced Thursday, will be played on the 7th this season. Mars to Atlanta.
The players from the two conferences that joined them on the field went as planned. Durant was joined by Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid in the starting lineup east, and James was joined by LA Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic in the west.

However, the return routes are more controversial.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was among the first to head west, while Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic took on Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard. Doncic finished second among fans, but third – behind Lillard – among media and readers’ votes. Yet it was Doncic who started, as the vote of the fans, who got 50% of the votes, while the players and media got 25% each, was decisive.
In the East, Bradley Beal, the NBA’s top scorer with 32.8 points per game, was named after he controversially dropped out last year. It was his first nod. The other star of the team was Kyrie Irving, the net star, who joined his teammate Durant.

Lakers forwards Anthony Davis and Clippers Paul George finished fourth and fifth, respectively, on the Western Front, while Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell finished fourth on the Western Guards.
In the East, forwards Jason Tatum (Boston Celtics) and Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat) finished fourth and fifth, while James Harden (Durant and Irving) was third, Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls) was fourth and Jaylen Brown (Celtics), second in the media poll, was fifth.
The remaining 14 All-Star spots will be determined by the coaches of the two conferences. They will be voting for seven people from East and West in the coming days, and the results will be announced Tuesday night on TNT.
James’ All-Star Game team will be led by Jazz coach Quin Snyder, who led the 76ers to victory on Monday. Meanwhile, Doc Rivers, coach of the 76ers, will coach another team if the Sixers win one of their next two games or the Bucks and Nets lose again this week.
