Ready for another day of March Madness? What about your support? The first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament continues on Saturday. No. 1 Gonzaga and Michigan play today.
However, Friday’s first-round games were not kind to the Big Ten. The league lost two seeds (Ohio State and Purdue). According to ESPN Stats & Information, this is the first time the tournament has been expanded since 1985.
The day was not kind to the CAC either. For the first time in tournament history, four teams (Clemson, UNC, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech) lost on the same day in the NCAA Tournament. But, the Buddy Bucks and Syracuse exploded.

Colorado has absolutely dusted off Georgetown. According to ESPN Stats & Information, this is the Buffaloes’ biggest win in the NCAA tournament.
Junior Jabari Walker scored a record 24 points with 5-of-5 three-pointers, the most number of three-pointers in a game in his career and a Colorado record in an NCAA Tournament game. Walker hadn’t even made 4 three-point attempts in a game until Saturday. Teammate D’Shawn Schwartz also hit five three-pointers Saturday and now shares that record with Walker.
McKinley Wright IV had 13 assists, a KU tournament record. Including 8 assists in the first half alone. In the previous six NCAA Tournaments, only one player has had at least 13 assists in a game: Murray State’s Ja Morant in 2019 (16).
