With the 2000-2001 season over, many fans and media members have been trying to predict the all-NBA teams that will be selected in the magazine, newspaper and internet voting that will begin on Nov. 12. The following is a list of teams that the writers and scouts feel will be selected in the first, second and third rounds of voting.
With the 2014-2015 season in the rearview, we have to go back in time to 2000-2001 to see our all-time greatest NBA teams, from a statistical standpoint.

The 2020-2021 season has been 20 years in the making. It’s hard to believe it’s been two decades since Allen Iverson is a basketball player from the United States. led the league in scoring and Shaq dominated the NBA Finals on route to winning the MVP award. Ray Allen was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sacramento Kings were in contention, and the Minnesota Timberwolves were in the playoffs.
How far have we progressed thus far? It’s only appropriate that we go back in time to experience the memories of that historical period. We can do so by studying the All-NBA teams. With that in mind, can we all agree that Jerry Stackhouse did not make the first, second, or third team? Stackhouse had the most points (2,380) and was second in points per game behind Iverson (29.8).
It might be the most egregious omission in NBA history. The complete All-NBA team from 2000-2001 is shown below.
Third Team All-NBA
Gary Payton is a professional basketball player.
23.1 points per gram, 4.6 points per gram, 8.1 points per gram, 1.6 points per gram, and 0.3 points per gram
Payton was also named to the All-Defensive First Team this season. Payton was a standout for a Seattle club that missed the playoffs. Seattle finished sixth in the division and tenth in the Western Conference despite a 44-38 record. Payton gave it all he had, averaging 41.1 minutes per game.

This season, Allen was a sharpshooter for the Bucks. Allen had the most offensive win shares (11.5), but he didn’t have the most three-point field goals in the league. Antoine Walker won the prize, defeating Allen by 19 threes. Allen led the Bucks to a 52-30 record, which was good enough for first place in the Central Division. The Bucks advanced to the Conference Finals before falling in a seven-game series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Nowitzki led the Mavericks to a No. 5 seed and a series victory against the Jazz in the playoffs. In the second round, the Dallas Mavericks were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs. In his third season in the league, Nowitzki had a well-rounded stat line that continued to improve throughout the regular season. The 2000-2001 season marked the beginning of Nowitzki’s transformation into a superstar.
Karl Malone is a professional basketball player.
23.2 points per game, 8.3 points per game, 4.5 points per game, 1.1 points per game, and 0.8 points per game

Despite being in his mid-thirties, Malone was still one of the greatest players in the game. In November, the second all-time leading scorer was named Player of the Month after averaging 22.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. The Jazz earned a No. 4 seed, but were knocked out in five games in the first round, which was a best-of-five format.

Robinson topped the league in win shares per 48 minutes, according to advanced analytics. In terms of defensive win shares, he placed fourth. Overall, Robinson was the second key component in the Spurs’ 58-win season and No. 1 overall seed in the Western Conference. San Antonio advanced to the Conference Finals before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in a rout.
Second Team All-NBA
28.5 points per game, 5.9 points per game, 5.0 points per game, 1.7 points per game, and 0.6 points per game
Bryant was fourth in both points per game and usage rate. The Lakers finished second in the Western Conference, two games behind the Spurs. Bryant was awarded Player of the Week twice and then Player of the Month in December after averaging 32.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. Bryant ultimately led the Lakers to their second straight NBA Finals appearance.
Vince Carter is an American singer and songwriter.
24.7 points per gram, 5.2 points per gram, 4.0 points per gram, 1.6 points per gram, and 0.7 points per gram
Carter has a strong case for being selected to the First Team. Carter was the second most efficient player in the league in terms of points per game. He was also second in offensive win shares and first in wins above a replacement player in the league. In this category, he was 0.1 better than Shaq. The Raptors qualified for the playoffs as the No. 5 seed, beat the Knicks in five games, and then defeated the 76ers in a seven-game series.
Tracy McGrady is a professional basketball player.
26.8 points per game, 7.5 points per game, 4.6 points per game, 1.5 points per game, 1.5 points per game, 1.5 points per game, 1.5 points per game, 1.5 points per game, 1.5 points per game, 1.5 points per game
McGrady was the NBA’s third-most efficient player. After averaging 29.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in February, he was awarded Player of the Month. McGrady led the Orlando Magic to a No. 7 seed in his debut season with the club before losing in four games in the first round.
Kevin Garnett is a basketball player that plays in the NBA

The Timberwolves would have gone from securing the No. 8 seed in the crowded Western Conference to becoming a lottery club if Garnett had played at all this season. The Timberwolves were eventually eliminated in the first round, but Garnett had the club playing winning basketball. He was one of the league’s finest all-around players, both offensively and defensively.

Before being moved to the 76ers, Mutombo had an All-Star season with the Atlanta Hawks. His game didn’t suffer as a result of the move, as he led the league in rebounding. He had the best rebounding percentage in the league, getting a rebound 21.9 percent of the time. Mutombo also had the most offensive rebounds in the league.
First Team All-NBA
Jason Kidd is a professional basketball player.
16.9 points per gram, 6.4 points per gram, 9.8 points per gram, 9.8 points per gram, 2.2 points per gram, 0.3 points per gram
Kidd had a fantastic last season with the Phoenix Suns. Despite falling in the first round of the playoffs, Kidd demonstrated that he was one of the league’s top rebounders. Kidd had the most assists and was fourth in steals in the league.

The 76ers offense was led by Iverson. Iverson was the league’s leading scorer and had a usage rate of above 35%. Iverson also led the league in steals and was tied for first in minutes per game with Michael Finley (42.0). Iverson led the 76ers to a No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, ensuring that they would play in the NBA Finals.

For the Sacramento Kings, Weber enjoyed a fantastic season. The Kings were a No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and advanced to the semifinals before being swept by the Lakers. Webber had the second-most two-point field goals in the league and was the league’s fifth most effective player. Given how terrible the Kings have been over the past decade, Chris Webber’s value is undeniable.
2.3 BPG, 22.2 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 3.0 APG, 0.9 SPG
The Spurs were the No. 1 seed in the West before losing in the Conference Finals against the Lakers. Aside from the 58 victories, the fact that Duncan topped the league in defensive win shares stands out the most (7.1). Duncan was beaten out by Dikembe Mutombo for Defensive Player of the Year.
Shaquille O’Neal is a basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Shaq had a fantastic season in which he finished third in points, rebounds, and blocks. By the conclusion of the season, he was the most productive player in the league. When he averaged 33.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in April, he was named Player of the Month. Shaq helped the Lakers repeat as NBA champions at the conclusion of the year, and he was voted Finals MVP.
Michael Jordan is the most impressive NBA Finals debut performer, with LeBron James and Kobe Bryant rounding out the top ten.
