Lionsgate has released the first full trailer for Barb and Star Go on Vista Del Mar. With Kristen Wiig and Annie Mamolo on board, things get weird and strange from the start. The trailer opens with a small homage to Netflix’s hit Stranger Things, and then moves entirely from Nebraska to the fiction Vista Del Mar. This is the first time Wiig’s star and Mumolo’s beard have left their hometown for an adventure.
The synopsis of Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar invites viewers to join the journey with the characters in the title and come out of their shells. This is the first time Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig have been together since the Oscar-nominated comedy Bridesmaids in 2011. The duo starred in and co-wrote the film. The story is about Barb and Star, old friends, who go on the adventure of a lifetime when they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time in their lives….. Romance, friendship and a sinister plot of villains meet.

Barb and Star Prep for Vista Del Mar is on the 12th. February direct to VOD. says director Josh Greenbaum: I wanted this film to be seen visually as a re-creation of people. It’s like a journey we’d all like to take right now. Many people have left the house for months for nothing but errands, so even watching a comedy vacation in a fictional paradise can be a breath of fresh air for comedy fans.
When Josh Greenbaum listened to Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo pitch Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, he didn’t know what to think of the comedy. I listened to the [opening] speech and thought: What kind of movie is this? Greenbaum remembers. But really, when I read the script, it was very different, and it was such a return to mockery and stupidity. It was a comic script that didn’t take itself too seriously, but it had a very soft emotional core at its core. And as we’ve seen in all the promotional material, the movie is stupid. We learn that Barb and Star’s specialty in the kitchen is hot dog soup, while in another scene we hear Richard Cheese serenade us with a song about women’s breasts.
Josh Greenbaum continues: As silly and ridiculous as Barb and Star may be as characters, deep within them lies a beautiful and sweet friendship. And it reflects Kristen and Annie’s friendship. In addition to Wiig and Mumolo, Jamie Dornan, Damon Wayans Jr., Fortune Feimster, Wendy McLeandon-Covey, Rose Abdu, Vanessa Bayer, Phyllis Smith and Kwame Patterson can also be seen in Barb and Star Goth at Vista Del Mar.
