The addition of quarterback Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has not only improved the team’s performance, but has made them a team to watch and helped increase TV viewing. After seven wins last year, Brady led the Buccaneers to an 11-5 regular season record and a postseason spot for the first time since 2007. Brady led the Buccaneers to a 31-23 victory over Washington Soccer on Saturday, securing their place in the divisional round where they will take on New Orleans Saints.

According to a report by Chad Finn of the Boston Globe, the Buccaneers’ local television audience increased 28 percent last season. Quarterback Jameis Winston threw for 33 touchdowns and 30 steals, while Tampa Bay finished with a score of 7-9.

Finn also said that Boston viewers still can’t get rid of Brady because they always see him doing his thing with the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers-Washington football game has a market rating of 19.6%, the highest score of the six Boston playoff games played last weekend.

Patriots public declines

Brady’s departure from the New England Patriots after 20 years has had an impact on the team’s local audience. The Patriots’ attendance is down 26 percent this season after struggling in their first year without Brady, who helped them win six Super Bowl titles in his two decades with the team. The Patriots’ average score was 35.5 in 2019 and 35.0 in 2018, according to Finn. The Patriots replaced Brady with the 2015 Most Valuable Player (MVP), Cam Newton, but it didn’t work out so well, as they finished with a score of 7-9.

In 15 games, Newton completed 242 of 368 passes for 2,657 yards and eight touchdowns with 10 steals. He also ran the ball 137 times for 592 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Another ridiculous statistic for Brady, Brees.

On Sunday, Brady, 43, and Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees, 42, will be the two oldest starting quarterbacks in an NFL game, with a combined age of 85.

Brady and Bree had previously set a goal when they turned 84 together in Weeks 1 and 9. However, Bree turned 42 on Friday, adding another year to the record. Additionally, Luke Easterly of USA Today pointed out another ridiculous statistic about Brady and Bree’s age. In his report, Easterling mentioned a tweet from Green Bay Packers reporter Perry Goldstein, who noted that Brady and Brees are both older than the two head coaches who will compete in another NFC divisional game between the Packers and the Los Angeles Rams.

Goldstein said Rams head coach Sean McVay is only 34, while Packers coach Matt LaFleur is only 41.

Coaches Sean McVay (34) and Matt LaFleur (41) have 2 starting BQs (Brady 43 and Brees 42) in the other round of the divisional playoffs. Underestimated premiums
