Sex and The City reboot under fire for including Covid-19

The controversial relaunch of Sex and the City has already upset fans after Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed that HBO’s Max series will tackle the coronavirus.

The Sex and the City cast has confirmed that Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) will return to the screens, but without Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), 11 years after the girls nearly killed off the franchise entirely with the monster movie Sex and the City 2.

While fans were furious that a reboot called And Just So could take place without Samantha – aka Sex and the City – they now have another reason to be angry: Covid-19.

While television has become a saving grace for millions of isolated people, a happy escape from the horrors of life in a global pandemic, confirmation that a deadly virus will be presented in this program has not been well received.

No one wants to see COVID on television, especially if it’s unfinished, said one critic. We want Girl to continue with Sex and the City after this cliffhanger !!!

The other one agreed: Two things are wrong. 1. Sex and the City is not the same without Samantha and 2. NO ONE NEEDS A COVID IN THEIR CONVERSATION. We want to escape and not have to face him every time.

Someone else has labeled this callous gesture as hell forcing us to record a global pandemic that has ruined virtually all of our lives in the media that was supposed to be the salvation itself.

But on the other hand, when New York City was hit so hard by the coronavirus pandemic, it might have been the elephant in the room if the devastation and destruction caused had not been mentioned at all.

More than 40,000 people died in New York because of Covid’s big hit. The bodies were piled up in trucks in front of Uhawla hospitals. It was a big deal. Why didn’t they put him in the show?

Guys, Covid 19 is such an important part of history and it only makes sense in our lifetime to have it in TV shows and movies, one supporter tweeted. It would be weirder if they didn’t.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sarah talked about the pandemic: It’s obvious that this is going to be part of the plot, because that’s where these characters live, and how did it change the relationship after the friends left?

She went on to say: I’m sure the authors will look into everything.

At the moment, it’s not known how Samantha’s absence from E will be perceived, but Kim Cattrall suggested that she put herself forward rather than join her colleagues.

Despite several very public denials, Parker insisted that there was no animosity with his former co-star and that their famous clashes had nothing to do with Cattrall’s failure to reclaim his role.

And that’s exactly how it airs in the US on HBO Max.
